•How to make Icon in Adobe Photoshop and apply it as External Hard Drive icon to protect it By accidentally format

There is a shoking problem i once faced...

I am copying movies from my Portabl Segate hard drive to friend's pendrive

My friend asked me to format pendrive before sending some movies in it

I have formatted it, But when i see my 260 gb's collection of movie, it shoked me

Because i have formatted my Portable Hard Disk accidentally.

I feel bad that time. And i tried to recover it from many softwares. Bt I am not able to recover it.

But finally I have recovered that stuff by copying from my firend's computer.

So i have a idea to change that icon so that i don't repeat this type of silly mistake.

Recomended Dimensions of Icons

48 × 48 pixels

32 × 32 pixels

16 × 16 pixels

General icon sizes

Icons on the right side of the Start menu are displayed 24 × 24 pixels size.

Each Windows XP icon should contain these three color depths to support different monitor display settings:

• 24-bit with 8-bit alpha (32-bit)
• 8-bit (256 colors) with 1-bit transparency
• 4-bit (16 colors) with 1-bit transparency

Designing Icon

Example: Design a icon with dimensions 48 × 48 pixels

And save it as .png format

Now Step To Convert .png Image To Icon

There are two ways to convert image to icon you have two options.

Make icon online by directly Website www.convertico.com

Or download software from www.gamani.com

Once you have converted image to Icon 

It's time to next step to change icon of External Hard Drive

Step 1

Rename icon to icon

Step 2

Then Copy Icon To External Hard Disk (Default name of icon icon.ico)

Step3

Create new Text doc in same drive

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 4

Type This Code In Text Doc

[autorun]

icon = .\icon.ico

Save text document in same drive (External Hard Disk) as:

autorun.inf

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 6

Hide both icons ( icon.ico and autorun.inf )

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 7

Un plug and plug Hard Disk
